Madison Christian Church History
Advertorial provided by Madison Christian Church
Madison Christian Church, located at 3565 Bixby Rd. in Groveport had its first service on November 9, 1975. One hundred people became members that day. They began with three goals:
1) To Build a Church
2) To Have a Christian School
3) To Build a Recreational Center
The Lord provided MCC with 6 1/2 acres of land to build that church! In July 1976, Randy Snyder gave his first trial sermon, and eventually was selected as the first senior pastor.
On April 3, 1977, a ground breaking ceremony for a new sanctuary took place. Construction began on July 1977 and was completed in March 1978.
Paul Barnes became our second senior pastor in 1996. Madison’s second 25 years began with planning and implementing a major building program to construct the current 36,000 square foot Worship Center. In typical Madison fashion, the work included large numbers of volunteers. Dedicated in the fall of 2003; it contains offices, classrooms and an auditorium with fixed seating for 700.
In 2004, the elders changed the focus to an intentionally outwardly-focused church. Much of what has taken place flowed out of that major decision:
· Countless local outreach projects like clothing and school supply drives.
· Raised money and given away many thousands of dollars in food, including our food basket ministry at Christmas.
· We began “Help Build Hope” where we construct the walls for houses which are donated to Habitat for Humanity. We have now completed 27 houses.
· Our End-of-Year offering includes some of the following ministries:
o Provided cyclone relief to Myanmar, Africa and India.
o Secured major refrigeration units for the Groveport Food Pantry.
o Through Lifeline Christian Mission, we have packed over half a million meals for Honduras.
Missions are a major focus at MCC, including: Hurricane Katrina Relief; multiple trips to Haiti, Honduras, Russia, Romania and Zimbabwe.
The church has increased involvement in the Groveport Fourth of July Parade. The church continues to go about the essential work of preaching the Word faithfully, teaching the Word consistently and serving the community cheerfully. Our mission has been and remains: “Reaching people for Christ and helping believers grow to be more like Him.”
