Michelle Hill is on a mission to create natural spaces in Fairfield County Parks and further.
When she started the Wild Ones group, the goal was to create natural spaces for pollinators in the Fairfield County region. However, as sowing plants over winter has been successful, she is open to expanding into other regions.
“I’m hoping to get more people excited and encouraged them to do spaces at their homes too,” Hill said.
To date, Hill has helped create natural spaces at 13 schools, four parks, and 25 households.
The goal is to create spaces where natural specimens are placed closer together, creating a supported and solid plant community.
Hill would also like to connect with school districts interested in teaching units on natural spaces and pollinators.
“It’s not limited to Fairfield County,” Hill said.
The process would include interactions with the teachers, discussions on garden planting, choosing a sight, and quality science-based information to share with students.
